Dan is an associate of Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP. His practice focuses on representing entrepreneurs and closely held businesses. The range of matters Dan works on represents all the stages of turning an idea into a business: From entity selection and formation through equity and debt financings, to licensing, distribution agreements, and eventual exits.
Since joining Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP, Dan has:
- Assisted in negotiating and closing several angel and early round financings.
- Negotiated distribution and licensing agreements, commercial leases, employment agreements, and credit facilities.
- Counseled clients on employment matters, equity and non-equity incentive plans, and protection of intellectual property.
Dan's natural curiosity drives him to understand the products and ideas of the firm’s clients. He uses that knowledge to assist clients in finding creative solutions that best serve each client’s individual needs.
Dan received his B.A. (cum laude) in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine in 1999 and his J.D. (cum laude) from the New England School of Law in 2003. While in law school, Dan was Managing Editor of the New England Law Review, won a national award for an appellate brief, and interned at the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board. Dan also earned an L.L.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law's Graduate Tax Program in 2004. He is a member of the bar in Massachusetts, the U.S District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Tax Court. Dan is active in both local and national bar associations.
